Lacul de acumulare Vidraru Lake Vidraru Lago Vidraru λίμνη Vidraru tó
Lacul Vidraru este un lac de acumulare, creat în anul 1965 de Barajul Vidraru în judetul Arges, pe râul Arges, pentru productia de energie electrica.
Suprafata totala a lacului este de 893 ha, lungimea de 10,3 km, latimea maxima de 2,2 km în zona Valea Lupului – Calugarita si o circumferinta de 28 km.
Adâncimea maxima a apei este de 155 m lânga barajul curbat înalt de 166 m, cu o lungime la coronament de 307 metri. Volumul apei este de 465 milioane ml. Nivelul normal de retentie este de 830,00 metri deasupra nivelului marii (mdM).
Construirea barajului Vidraru a durat cinci ani si jumatate începând în anul 1960[1]. Pentru aceasta realizare, au fost necesare 42 km de tunel subteran, au fost excavate 1.768.000 de m3 de roca, din care aproximativ 1 milion în subteran, s-au turnat 930.000 m3 de beton din care 400.000 de m3 în subteran si de asemenea au fost instalate 6300 de tone de echipament electromecanic.
La data de finalizare aceasta s-a situat, masurat la înaltime, aproximativ pe locul 8 în Europa si pe locul al 20-lea în lume.
Pe Barajul Vidraru se poate practica sportul extrem de Bungee jumping[2].
De la orasul Curtea de Arges venind spre DN1 (comuna Cartisoara, SB), drumul care trece prin fata uzinei hidroenergetice Vidraru, pe baraj, urmat prin dreapta lacului Vidraru este spectaculosul Transfagarasan pe(DN7C).
Lake Vidraru is an artificial lake in Romania. It was created in 1965 by the construction of the Vidraru Dam on the Arges River.
It lies in the shadow of the Fagaras Mountains. A village lies submerged at the bottom of this lake.
Vidraru Lake is a lake, with 465 million cubic meters of water, with a length of 10.3 km and a width of 2.2 km, thus accumulating a total area of 870 hectares and maximum depth of 155 meters. Underground power station is situated in massive Cetatuia to a depth of 104 meters and can provide annual energy production of 400 GWh.
Vidraru Lake is a reservoir lake created in 1965 on the Arges River for electricity production.

Vidraru dam construction took five years and a half starting in 1960 . For this achievement, it took 42 km of underground tunnels were excavated 1.768 million m3 of rock, of which about 1 million underground bands have 930,000 m3 of concrete of which 400,000 m3 underground and also were installed 6300 tonnes of electromechanical equipment.
On completion it was located, measured in height, approximately the 8th place in Europe and ranked 20th in the world.

Beautiful presentation and one would think that if it breaks that gonna e another of these human catastrophy and it was laready for mother nature anyway even if this is the least dangerous way of creating electricity in the long term...
